An inspiring collection of letters written by girls and non-binary young people from across the world.

Girls to the World: Letters for Change is a collection of letters written by young people aged eight to 23 years-old from London to Lagos, Mexico to Malawi, Spain to Sri Lanka and Palestine to Pakistan; covering everything from war, child marriage, domesticity, the toxicity of social media and climate, to a love of sharks!

Full of joy, determination, anger, optimism and hope, their words deepen our understanding of the realities of gender inequity, as they experience it, at the cusp between girlhood and adulthood.

Girls to the World was created by UK based charity The WOW Foundation in 2024, inspired by our growing alumni of committed young activists profiled in our annual WOW Young Leaders Directory.  The book contains 27 letters from 18 countries, and covers a myriad of subject matters affecting girls and young people today. As a collection of thoughts from young people it is strong, intelligent and highlights in their own words many of the themes covered at WOW Festivals and events across the world.

The project was made possible by individual donors and a grant from The Big Give.

We hope you enjoy reading.
